Though we wholeheartedly believe that women’s history education should be year-round, there is no time like Women’s History Month to stock your shelves with incredible books detailing the lives of some of the world’s most wonderful women. The Little People, Big Dreams collection is among our favorites when it comes to age-appropriate accounts of history’s biggest trailblazers, and the newest additions to this line are no exception.
My oldest son and I greatly look forward to the latest books to come out from this collection, and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the last few. I was as eager as him to read about Evonne Goolagong—the inspiring indigenous Australian tennis player—of whom both he and I knew not much about. And as a writer and book-lover, I was excited to share the story of Astrid Lindgren—creator of Pippi Longstocking, one of my beloved childhood book characters.
The new Frida Kahlo book and doll set was actually perfect for my younger son, who is very much the artist of the family. It includes a board book on the great Frida Kahlo, perfect for tiny, destructive hands, and an adorable Frida doll to go with it. It warms my heart to see him carry it around.
