If you’re a child of the ‘80s and ‘90s like me, you were lucky to be #blessed with so many great movies, most you can now stream anytime you’re in search of a healthy dose of nostalgia. Plus, new shows like Stranger Things, set in the ’80s, have also amped up the throwback fun, and I find myself reminiscing about the freedom of riding bikes wherever I wanted, building tree forts in the woods, and enjoying an ice-cold Coca-cola and a Twix bar after a long day of third grade.
Through the eyes of parenthood, I’m also enjoying some of my favorite films from a new perspective. I still laugh watching three grown men attempt to change a diaper and sing a baby to sleep in Three Men and a Baby, and I’m still appalled at the way J.C.’s company treated her as a working mom in Baby Boom.
Of course, now I relate to the parent characters, like Mrs. McAllister in Home Alone, and even Veruca Salt’s father in Willy Wonka—I mean, who hasn’t given in to an “I want it now!” tantrum? Here are seven other parenting truths from movies we watched as kids, brought to you by funny moms around the web.
