While browsing through a few of our favorite products recently, we realized that many were created by moms. Not only are these women busy raising families, but they also created and are running their own successful businesses. No small feat if we do say so ourselves!
Here are a few of our favorite mom-created products. There are some things for moms (because, self-care) and some for the babes too.
Founder Sara Blakely was getting ready for a party when she realized she didn’t have the right undergarment to provide a smooth look under white pants. That idea has turned into a multi-million dollar company selling flattering athleisure, bras, and so much more. Sara had four kids along the way too.
Toddlers have the tendency to wake up too early and then spend the rest of the day cranky. This nightlight has a time-to-rise light that turns on when it's time to get up, can be controlled by a smart phone and is a sound machine, too. Your less tired eyes will thank you.
Moms want the best for their babies, and Monica + Andy founder Monica Royer is no exception. After having her first baby, she wanted to make sure anything that touched her baby’s skin would be the softest and most trustworthy fabric available. Her clothing line's whimsical and classic prints are a must have for any newborn photo shoot.
Tiffany Masterson was inspired to create a bar cleanser to address her combo and sensitive skin. She was a stay-at-home mom to her kids and began selling the cleanser on the side. Drunk Elephant is now one of the fastest growing beauty brands at Sephora, with top sellers like Babyfacial and TLC.
Sandra Oh Lin was inspired by her three kids to create KiwiCo, which makes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activity boxes that are accessible, engaging, and fun for kids of all ages. The boxes encourage kids to build their creative confidence and problem solving skills through super-fun hands-on projects and content.
Snotty noses and diaper duty made Chelsea Hirschhorn wonder how she could make parenthood a bit easier. Her first product was the NoseFrida, a lifesaver to all parents with stuffy kids. The line now offers some of the most buzzed about baby products, like nail clippers that won’t nick your baby and a fever-monitoring patch.
This shop was started by blogger Jordan Ferney after her blog quickly became the go-to party resource on Pinterest. After spending too much time sourcing party goods, she decided to launch a shop to bring her party style to the masses.
Susan Petersen began crafting baby moccasins in 2009 after becoming frustrated by the lack of well-designed baby shoes. She used a bag of scrap leather from a yard sale to create moccasins that she tested on her second child — and Freshly Picked moccasins were born. They are durable, well designed, and stay on your child’s foot.
Jessica Alba came up with The Honest Company because she wanted safe and effective products for her family. The brand started with diapers and now sells everything from makeup to cleaning supplies.
Ingrid & Isabel was born when its founder, Ingrid Carney, was newly pregnant and could no longer button her pre-pregnancy bottoms. She created the Bellaband and has since expanded to clothing (like this dress we love) for all occasions and an exclusive collection at Target.
