For the first few years of my working career, I had jobs in retail that required certain clothing guidelines. Perhaps because of that, once I moved on to my first post-retail job, I loved getting the chance to show off my style in work-appropriate fashion. Of course, this was pre-kid, when getting up for work at 7 a.m. seemed early.
Nowadays, I work full-time from home, and that, combined with motherhood, has changed my day-to-day style significantly. Instead of flowing maxi dresses and skirts, I’ve opted for outfits that are comfortable yet presentable for an at-home work meeting. Enter: loungewear sets, which have become my winter wardrobe staple.
This category of clothing saw a massive growth during the pandemic, as more and more people worked from home on a day-to-day basis. With that growth, we’ve seen a huge range in styles come on the market, offering up matching sets that take absolutely zero energy to put together (but look very cute). As someone who works from home, these are the winter loungewear sets I plan to live in during the next few cold months.
The Best Winter Loungewear Sets to Add to Your Closet
Free People Hailee Sweater Set
This waffle-knit set comes with both top and bottom: a henley sweater and wide-leg pants. It’s perfectly oversized and chic, and available in gorgeous neutral colors that match anyone’s taste.
Free People Hailee Cardi Set
Similar to the Hailee Sweater Set, this waffle-knit set comes with a cardigan top and jogger-style pants. The set comes in a ton of colors and can be mixed and matched, so you can swap out the joggers for jeans if you’re looking for something slightly less casual.
Aerie Cozy Up Waffle Set
Cuddle up in the softest waffle-knit you can imagine. The top has a fun polo neckline, and can be paired with the wide-leg skater pants. It’s also available in a variety of neutral colors, so there’s something for everyone.
Amazon Sweater and Shorts Set
For days when I’m blasting the heat and need something a little more breathable, this budget-friendly shorts set is the perfect fit. The shorts pair perfectly with the batwing-sleeved sweater, which gives the set a unique and flattering shape.
The GREAT. Cropped Sweatpant and Boxy Crew
No one does lived-in style quite like The GREAT. While the brand offers a ton of different loungewear options to mix and match, the Cropped Sweatpant and Boxy Crew T-shirt are a particularly timeless pairing. Each can be worn together or swapped out to wear with jeans, a sweatshirt, etc.
Gap Boyfriend Set
You can’t beat a classic, and Gap’s offering is just that. The high-rise joggers have a boyfriend cut and are available in a variety of colors (as well as tall and petite options, a major plus!). You can choose to pair them with the crewneck sweatshirt or opt for a matching hoodie instead.
Abercrombie & Fitch Sunday Set
For a half-zip option, Abercrombie’s Sunday Set makes a fantastic choice. It comes in some great color options, including a light blue, mint green, and maroon. The half-zip can be paired with matching joggers, or swapped out to wear with leggings instead.
H&M Sweater Set
H&M’s fine-knit sweater set with brushed fabric is not only one of the softest options on the list, but also one of the most budget-friendly. The oversized sweater has a slightly longer hem, making it a great option to wear with either the matching fine-knit leggings or any other bottom.
Girlfriend Collective Athleisure Set
The Girlfriend Collective offers a variety of loungewear items to mix and match, including this cropped hoodie. Made with recycled micro fleece, the material is the perfect weight to not get too hot or too cold throughout the day. It pairs wonderfully with one of the bestsellers from the brand, their ultra-high rise compression leggings. Plus, the blue-on-blue makes for an ultra-chic monochrome look.
