When I shimmied into the Jena Miraclesuit, I’m not exaggerating when I say it was love at first sight. I was initially shocked by how slimming it was and thrilled that despite its shaping effect, I could still move around comfortably. There’s nothing like summer hitting while you’re seven months postpartum. If I’m being totally honest, I had some less-than-enthusiastic feelings about slipping into a swimsuit this summer, and those feelings were less about how I looked and more so about how I felt. It’s hard to feel like yourself after months of carrying (and caring for) another human. And now I’m chasing around a 5-year-old and a 7-month-old, which means no time off at the pool. As a teen, my family would drag me swimwear shopping at the start of summer, and I loathed it every single time. Nothing would fit my 5’0, curvier frame the same way it fit the girls modeling it, which resulted in me leaving the fitting room in tears.
