My daughter was almost 2 years old when we moved into a new house. As we unpacked, she explored our new home that had yet to be baby-proofed. I’ll never forget seeing her reach up and move the front facing knobs on our kitchen range. I immediately ordered safety covers for the knobs, as they were a feature we didn’t have at our old house. These front facing oven range knobs can be dangerous for toddlers, but what happens when pets or adults are able to accidentally turn them on too? That risk is at the center of a recent recall from LG. A Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) report published February 6, 2025, states that “Front-mounted knobs on the recalled ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets, posing a fire hazard.”

According to their website, the CPSC has received at least 86 reports of “unintentional activation” of the front-mounted knobs. These LG ranges have been involved in more than 28 fires, with three fires resulting in pet deaths. Here’s how to check if your range is part of the LG recall and what to do.

Which LG Ranges Are Part of the Recall?

According to the CPSC website, this recall involves LG Slide-In Ranges, and Freestanding Ranges with front-mounted knobs. The recalled products were sold at Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other stores and online at LG.com. Depending on the model, the ranges were sold from 2015 through January 2025 for between $1,400 and $2,650. LG gas ranges do not appear to be part of the recall.

How to Check if Your LG Range is Part of the Recall

The following model and serial numbers are part of this recall. The model number is located on the range inside the oven door or storage drawer at the bottom of the oven. Photos of the LG electric range models that are part of the recall can also be viewed on the CPSC’s website here.

What to Do if You Have the Recalled LG Electric Range

It’s no secret kitchen appliances are expensive, so it’s unlikely anyone will be replacing their range due to this risk. According to the CPSC, consumers should contact LG for a free warning label and placement instructions. The label reminds consumers to use the Control Lock/Lock Out function.

View the LG instructional video regarding Control Lock/Lock Out feature below:

Consumers can also contact LG at 800-399-3265 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at [email protected], or visit https://lgecares.com/rangerecall and enter your information to request a free warning sticker, instructions on where to place the sticker, and how to use the Control Lock/Lock Out feature on their range.

Additionally, the company reminded consumers to keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check the range knobs to ensure they are off before leaving home or going to bed, and not to leave objects on the range when the range is not in use—all good reminders, even if our ranges aren’t part of the recall.
