For families with allergies and food sensitivities, correct food labels are not just important, they’re essential to their family’s health and safety. Checking ingredient lists becomes second nature while grocery shopping, so when a label is missing key allergen information—as in the case of this latest kids’ food recall—it’s a big deal. On February 19, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported a recall for Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes kid’s bento box snacks for undeclared wheat and eggs.
While the product might not be as popular as some other kids’ breakfast food recalls of late, like frozen waffles and pancake mixes, for families with allergy concerns, a recall with allergen concerns matters. Thankfully, no illnesses have been reported. According to the FDA, “the recall was initiated after it was discovered that the incorrect back label was placed on the back of the package. Because of this, the allergens wheat and eggs were not listed on the label. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a production label changeover failure which has since been corrected.” Here’s what to know and how to check to see if your kid’s Berry Buddies are part of the recall:
Which Berry Buddies are part of the recall?
According to the FDA, there were 694 cases of the recalled Naturipe Snacks Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes, which are usually found in the refrigerated section of the stores, in the produce or deli departments. Here’s how to check to see if your product could be part of the recall:
- Recalled products were distributed at Kroger and Meijer retail stores in Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
- The product comes in 2.1 oz. / 60 grams, colored plastic package marked with lot #1097901 on the top.
- Expiration date of 2/25/2025.

What should you do if you have the recalled Berry Buddies snack?
