Around 10 years ago, I discovered Australian author Liane Moriarty through a recommendation for the book What Alice Forgot. By that point, the novel was already a couple of years old, so it felt like a hidden gem discovery. I read it, absolutely loved it, and immediately went to Amazon to see if she had any other books available to read. I was delighted to discover that she had two releases before What Alice Forgot and two after. By the end of that year, I had read them all and enjoyed every book.
In the years since that initial discovery, she’s released six more books, bringing her current total to 11—including Big Little Truths, which was just released on August 25, 2026. I’ve read all 11 Liane Moriarty books and haven’t come across one I haven’t liked yet. All these years later, I still automatically buy any of her books whenever she has a new release—as I do with Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez.

This book is Liane Moriarty’s first novel. It is sweet and enjoyable, but it is less suspenseful than her later works. The novel follows three very different sisters who have an epic fight during their 33rd birthday dinner. In the aftermath, they confront the secrets, envy, and betrayals that are part of their sisterly bond.
10. The Hypnotist’s Love Story
Ellen O’Farrell may have a picture perfect life—working as a hypnotherapist from her beachfront home—but she longs for a stable, loving relationship. Allegra Patel is a flight attendant—her life is stable and predictable. Until a “psychic” woman on one of her flights stands up and starts making predictions about how the passengers will die. I finished this book last October, and I couldn’t put it down. Moriarty artfully wove together the storylines of several characters and had me on the edge of my seat about what might happen to them. It’s a character-driven exploration into free will versus fate, uncertainty, and regret. It’s a different setup than her “domestic drama” works, but it is still twisty and unpredictable.
