Gift Giving is My Love Language—Here’s How I Personalize All of My Gifts

I can proudly claim to be the queen of gifts in my family. All my loved ones know that when they open something from me, it’ll be a thoughtful mix of inside jokes, meaningful memories, and the “how did you remember I said I liked this once six months ago?” kind of energy. I love curating gifts that feel special and specific to the person I’m giving them to…but honestly? The real secret sauce of it all is the card. It’s where I have a chance to include sweet photos, custom messages, and sometimes a slightly embarrassing throwback pic that makes them laugh, making it something memorable to hold on to instead of a random grocery store find that’ll collect dust in a random box.
Still, as a busy mom, I don’t always have time to pull off that picture-perfect gift moment—and I definitely don’t have the energy to run to three stores just for a card. Enter Moonpig: A greeting card and gifting site that’s become my go-to for creating custom cards that actually feel personal (without having to blow my budget or stay up until midnight crafting). If you’re like me and love meaningful gift giving, without the added stress to your to-do list, here’s exactly how I make it happen.
Moonpig has a ton of different options to create the perfect customized cards for your loved ones, and they break the whole process down into just five easy steps.
Moonpig has so many cute cards to choose from, it’s honestly hard to pick just one. Whether you’re shopping for a birthday, anniversary, new baby, or just a “thinking of you” moment, their category options cover everything and then some. I love that they also have funny cards, sentimental ones, and even a few that are refreshingly minimal if you’re not sure which direction to take. Their cards are fully designed but still customizable, which makes them feel personal without having to design something from scratch.

Next, you pick whether you want to send an e-card (hello, last-minute lifesaver!) or a physical card. If I’m mailing something long-distance, I usually mail a physical card. But for a quick surprise for a friend or family member, the e-card is perfect. You can also choose a standard or large size for physical cards, which is a fun way to make a statement—literally. The large cards are especially fun to send to little ones (my niece is a huge fan).

Here’s where things get fun. Most of Moonpig’s card designs let you upload your own photos or swap out the text on the front. I love choosing a design that fits my friend’s aesthetic or humor, or something that pulls my husband’s heartstrings, and then uploading a cute picture of us. It makes it feel way more personal than anything you’d grab off a store shelf.

Moonpig really shines here. The inside of the card has so many customization options:

The best part? Moonpig handles the mailing. You can send the card straight to your loved one’s doorstep (perfect for long-distance birthdays or grandparents) or have it mailed to yourself if you want to hand it off in person. Either way, it shows up looking polished and put-together.

If you’re like me and love a one-stop shop, Moonpig goes beyond cards. They offer thoughtful little gifts you can bundle with your greeting card, like personalized mugs and even gift cards from your favorite retailers. I’ve tucked Barnes & Noble and Starbucks gift cards into a few of mine before, and it adds such a fun bonus to the card. It makes it easy to go above and beyond—even if you’re working with a tight budget or are short on time.
To make your life even easier, here are a few of my favorite Moonpig greeting card designs. From fun patterns to minimalist photo designs, there’s a card for every style and occasion:
Whether you’re surprising a friend or celebrating a big milestone, Moonpig makes it easy to create something thoughtful that feels like you. It’s my new favorite shortcut to heartfelt gifting—and it’s about to become yours, too.
