I’ve always known who Hailey Bieber was, of course, and was aware of her Rhode brand’s amazing trajectory (the $1 billion e.l.f acquisition!) and trends (glazed donut skin!). But it wasn’t until recently that I found myself, well, transfixed. I started seeing 20-something influencers and celebs on Instagram using Rhode, and I began watching YouTube videos of Bieber doing her skincare routine way past my bedtime.
Hailey Bieber’s skin is, in fact, gorgeous, gleaming, you could easily say. Rhode’s products keep popping up in more and more of my feeds, people singing the praises of the Glazing Milk, the under-eye patches, the infamous lip tints.
But I’m not a Coachella-bound 25-year-old, nor am I a Sephora tween trying to look older. That’s who I, naively, envisioned Hailey marketing Rhode skincare towards.
I’m newly 40. I’m a mom to three wild boys. My life is as far from Bieber’s cool LA crowd as it could be. But here’s the thing: I, too, strive to look my best day in and day out. I find joy and confidence in taking care of myself. I may have turned the corner on this new decade, but I still desire to look fabulous, starting first and foremost with my skin. Am I too old for Rhode? I decided to find out. Here is what I purchased from Rhode skincare and my honest review of the brand.
My first Rhode order: everything I decided to try

I decided to start with some of their core products, those they’re most known for: the Glazing Milk, the Peptide Glazing Fluid, the eye patches, and the lip tint. Considering I recently jumped on the lip liner wagon, I added one of their Lip Shapers to my cart at the last minute.
I ordered the trial sizes of the Rhode skincare items, hesitant to dive in before at least getting a feel for them. I’m a picky skincare and beauty connoisseur, cautious with all products, afraid they’ll wreak havoc on my sensitive, mature skin.
Immediately, I was delighted with the sleek and simple packaging when everything arrived at my door. Their iconic soft dove grey shade is soothing and classy. The products don’t scream from my bathroom counter, but instead, relay a quiet luxury vibe that I’m very into.
Glazing Milk
That evening I opened up the Glazing Milk, a bit confused about what it actually was. A toner? A moisturizer? Something in between? Both and nothing at the same time? Described as a “facial essence,” it’s recommended to be applied after cleansing, before their corresponding Glazing Fluid and then moisturizer.
“I opened up the Glazing Milk, a bit confused about what it actually was. A toner? A moisturizer? Something in between? Both and nothing at the same time?”
It has a light milky texture, barely any fragrance (which I thoroughly appreciate), and comes out pretty quickly. Viewing—and using—it as a toner alternative made the most sense to me, and as I lightly pressed it into my skin, I instantly enjoyed the refreshing feel. My skin immediately looked glowy, reinvigorated.
I’ve heard of fans claiming that they reach for this product over and over again and as the days went on, I started to understand why. At first dose I could easily agree that it was lovely, but as time went on, I found myself excitedly adding it to my morning and evening routine, enjoying both the more hydrating feel, especially compared to my usual toner, and the lit-from-within glow it gave me.
I saw someone reference applying it as a final step, right before makeup, so I decided to give it a go. When I tried that out, I was quite impressed by how it made my concealer go on so smoothly while still maintaining the glowy effect, even under some makeup layers.
It’s safe to say that the Glazing Milk is a winner for me.
Peptide Glazing Fluid
Unfortunately, I’m less passionate about the coordinating Peptide Glazing Fluid. Marketed as a serum, it’s a super-lightweight gel that’s refreshing and lightly hydrating. But at my age and skincare stage, I’m craving a more substantial serum, more grip, more intensity. It just feels a bit too light for me, not packing as strong a punch as I like from my serums.

However, I’ve transitioned to using it as a little extra boost when using Rhode’s eye patches… which brings me to my Rhode holy grail.
Peptide Eye Prep

These Instagram-viral (thanks to cameos by Hailey’s hubby) Peptide Eye Prep patches are a 40-something mom’s saving grace. I have a pair of reusable eye patches that I use regularly, and while I love that they are sustainable, Rhode’s disposable version is legit. Immediately upon applying to my early-morning puffy eyes, their solid hold on my skin felt so good and cooling, fully gripping and going to work. I could feel the caffeine taking hold, my skin tightening, and waking up in the absolute best possible way.
“I left them on for over 15 minutes, and when I removed them, my under-eye area was smoother, more radiant, and glistening”
I left them on for over 15 minutes, and when I removed them, my under-eye area was smoother, more radiant, and glistening. I’m a woman in love, I’m obsessed. Mrs. Bieber, please hook a tired boy mom x3 up with these for life!
Peptide Lip Tint
I decided to dip my toes a bit further with my Rhode experiment and try a couple of their beloved lip products, starting with their iconic Lip Tint. I’ve seen those girlies with the Rhode cell phone case, complete with the holder for said lip tints. Cute and fab for your Instagram feed? Of course. But was the product that good that you literally couldn’t leave home without it?
The truth is, yeah, pretty much.
I’m picky about lip glosses: too sticky is gross, too slippery is messy. Rhode knocked it out of the park with these tints, achieving the perfect delicate balance of hydrating, texture, and color. I purchased the Sweet Pea shade, a pearly warm pink, with a lovely berry and jasmine scent.

It added a fun pop of color and shine to my lips, felt so comfortable and soft, and sure enough, I soon found myself carrying it around with me, ready to reapply throughout the day. Turns out a lip gloss cell phone holder would probably be super convenient. Bravo, Rhode.
Peptide Lip Shape
I also picked up the Peptide Lip Shape in lift, a soft neutral pink shade, and it’s safe to say that I’m hooked. I like the thicker circumference of the shaper and its point, a bit chunkier and easier to work with compared to my current lip pencil, in a classic thinner pencil size. The shade defined my lips oh so subtly, and the smudger on the opposite end of the shaper helped me blur it to perfection. I’ve been using it nonstop ever since I first opened the box.

Is Rhode worth it? My final thoughts

I can confidently say that I will be a repeat Rhode skincare purchaser; my cart is already waiting for me to check out. The price point feels completely reasonable considering the products’ effectiveness and the brand’s aesthetic.
Hailey Bieber has a new fan in me, she has my attention, and I’m ready to take note of what’s to come next from her company, especially with its recent acquisition by e.l.f. Beauty.
I may not be young and hip, but darn it all, you better believe my skin will be glowy and glazed from now on. If you need me, you can find me making breakfast for the boys, eye patches in place, lips shaped and glossed to perfection.
