If you’re like me, balancing style and function in your home is a priority—especially in smaller living spaces. When it came time to upgrade our TV, I was hesitant about adding yet another clunky, unattractive piece of tech to our apartment. Thankfully, because I’m a commerce writer, I essentially shop for a living. So I decided to roll up my sleeves and do some research. When I came across the Samsung Frame TV (and its thousands of glowing reviews), I knew instantly that I wanted to try it out. Despite the high price tag, I knew it was a perfect fit for our home—a city apartment—and my decor preferences.

A stylish, modern solution that not only looks great but performs exceptionally well, the Samsung Frame TV was a game changer for us, and I now want one in every room. After living with it for a while, I can confidently say it was worth every penny, and I recommend it to everyone. My siblings and I just chipped in and gifted one to my parents, too—that’s how cool it is. Read on for my full review of the Samsung Frame TV, in which I’m breaking down its features, cost, and more.

Samsung Frame TV Review: Features

The Samsung Frame TV is more than just a television; it’s honestly a statement piece of functionality for your home. With a focus on aesthetics and advanced technology, it certainly stands out in a crowded market of smart TVs. Its key features include Art Mode, customizable bezels, smart TV capabilities, an easy installation process, and a stunning 4K QLED display. While most people initially buy it for the aesthetics (it’s me, I’m most people), there’s so much more to it than meets the eye. Literally.

Art Mode

Art Mode is one of the Frame TV’s best features, especially if you live in an apartment with limited space like I do. When the TV is off, it transforms into a beautiful piece of art rather than an eyesore of a clunky black box on your wall with a shiny finish. The Frame TV allows you to choose from an extensive library of artwork or even upload your own images, making it a versatile addition to any room. This feature has not only saved us space but also added a touch of elegance to our living room, too.

Another option I’ve yet to do but definitely want to soon is ordering custom art from Etsy. You can download pretty much any art you can dream of. And there are even artists who can create custom digital watercolor files based off of your favorite family photos and send them back in a file you can add to your television. I would love to have a dreamy family portrait be my screensaver for the TV when it’s in Art Mode. It would elevate and personalize the room and make the TV look even more like a piece of art.

Customizable Bezels

When combing through reviews, I learned that one of the most unique aspects of the Samsung Frame TV is the customizable bezels. You can choose from a variety of frame styles and colors to match your home decor, making it truly look like a piece of framed art rather than a television. The ability to switch out the bezels as our tastes or aesthetics change is an awesome feature for those who like to switch things up often. The bezels have made our Frame TV seamlessly blend into our space. They’re super easy to install and change, too, thanks to their genius magnetic design.

Samsung has their own options that include classic crisp white or a light metallic gold, but you can also order more ornate options from third-party retailers and even Etsy artists. I’ve been eyeing this ornate gold one for quite some time, and it just might be time to take the plunge. If you’re a real baller, you can even get a frame for your TV that’s made of real 22-karat gold—but I prefer to wear my gold.

Smart TV Capabilities

Of course, it’s not all about looks. Although it is what I cared most about, my husband was more concerned with the picture and ability to use apps. Thankfully, the Samsung Frame TV is a fully functional smart TV. It comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect, including built-in apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. It also features voice control and seamless integration with other smart home devices. The user interface is intuitive, and we’ve found it to be incredibly easy to navigate, even for the less tech-savvy members of our household.

Easy to Install

Installing the Samsung Frame TV was surprisingly straightforward. While we did hire someone (thanks, Task Rabbit) to handle the mounting, the process was quick and painless. If you’re handy, you can definitely manage it on your own. Unfortunately, myself and my husband are not.

The TV comes with a no-gap wall mount that allows it to sit completely flush against the wall, further enhancing its art-like appearance. Even though we opted for professional installation, I feel confident that it’s a job most can tackle on their own with a little patience. But just in case, if you purchase it through Samsung, you can actually pre-pay for installation services, too.

4K QLED Display

The display quality of the Samsung Frame TV is nothing short of impressive. The 4K QLED screen delivers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and stunning clarity. But what does 4K QLED even mean? To be honest, I even had to research it myself.

Essentially, the 4K refers to the resolution of the screen, which is 3840 x 2160 pixels. Compared to a Full HD display, a 4K display has four times the resolution for a sharper and more detailed picture. The QLED component is an acronym for “quantum dot light emitting diode.” QLED Quantum dots are tiny semiconductor particles that emit light and enhance both brightness and color accuracy. Put ‘em together, and you’ve got 4K QLED.

Whether we’re watching our favorite shows, playing video games, or simply enjoying the artwork in Art Mode, the picture quality never disappoints. It’s a major upgrade from our previous TV, and it truly elevates our viewing experience.

The Remote

Though I’m currently on my third remote (we have a puppy and I suck at remembering to keep it out of his reach), I’m really obsessed with the unique remote the TV uses. It doesn’t require old-fashioned batteries, and instead, it charges either via the included cable OR via the sun—yep, solar-powered. When it needs charging, I just leave it outside on my balcony for a bit, and it charges right up. Genius.

It also features a sleek, minimalist design, which, unfortunately, finds its way into my couch cushion cracks quite often. Nonetheless, I love that it has an easy-to-use voice control option and is a pretty off-white color instead of stark black like most others.

My Experience with the Samsung Frame TV: Is It Worth It?

Yes, absolutely. The Samsung Frame TV has exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s stylish, functional, and adds so much value to our home. Whether we’re having a family movie night or I’m catching up on the morning news, it’s become a staple in our household. The combination of Art Mode, customizable bezels, smart features, and top-notch display quality makes it a fantastic investment. If you’re on the fence about whether it’s worth the cost, I’d say go for it. You won’t regret it.

However, there are a few situations where I would say it might not be worth it. First, I wouldn’t buy it if continuity in your home technology is important to you. Now that we have one, I want to replace the TV in my bedroom with a Frame TV as well, and it just isn’t in the budget right now.

Also, if you don’t watch a lot of television, you might opt for a cheaper option because you won’t get much use out of it. My biggest justification for the investment is that our television is on a lot. Like, a lot a lot. I like background noise while I work from home. Usually, it involves housewives on BRAVO yelling at each other. To each her own!

It also might not be a necessary purchase if you’re looking for a television for a kid’s room or a guest room, but that’s just my opinion.

Where to Buy the Samsung Frame TV

The Samsung Frame TV is available in a range of sizes, from 32 inches to 75 inches, with prices generally ranging from $600 to $3,000 depending on the model. You can purchase it from the following major retailers:

Tips to Save Money

Of course, buying the TV while it’s on sale—like during Prime Day!—is a great place to start. Keep an eye out for sales during the holiday season, especially Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Retailers often offer significant discounts during this time, so you can snag a great deal on this stylish and functional TV. There are also ways to maximize your dollars, too. Some examples include buying the TV during a gift card promo, using a retail store credit card for points, or a shopping rewards system like Rakuten.
