I know I can’t be the only one of Shea McGee’s nearly 300,000 Instagram followers that is constantly scouring her feed wondering where she got her clothing. The designer is the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Studio McGee and McGee & Co. But she has also built a fanbase for her general aesthetic and style, which feel very laid-back Californian chic.
And as one of those fans, I can say that I squealed with delight when I found out that Studio McGee would be teaming up with Tuckernuck for a special summer capsule collection. Featuring mix-and-match pieces, the collection is perfect for the warmer months. And you can truly see Shea’s influence on each and every piece. The collection is live right now on the Tuckernuck website!
What can you expect from the Tuckernuck x Studio McGee collaboration?
Tuckernuck describes itself as a one-stop shop for “a fun, full life.” They offer an assortment of clothing, accessories, home goods, and more. The company began in 2012, in an effort to create a place to feel like you’re shopping at a curated boutique. The vibe pairs perfectly with Studio McGee, an interior design firm started by husband and wife team Syd and Shea McGee. Their designs and general aesthetic proved so popular that they’ve expanded to many avenues. They have written books, partnered with Target and other brands, and even appeared in their own Netflix series, Dream Home Makeover.
Now, the two brands have teamed up for the Tuckernuck x Studio McGee summer capsule collection. The 33-piece capsule launched May 14 on Tuckernuck. It includes clothing and accessories for everything from casual wear to workout gear and even summer party pieces. The capsule’s designs are inspired by Shea’s love of wallpaper and vintage textiles, and it shows! The mix of florals and neutrals are all timeless pieces for effortless summer days.

Why this is the perfect capsule collection for moms
As a mother herself, Shea understands the importance of creating a capsule wardrobe. These pieces can be mixed and matched for a more minimalist approach. In planning the collection, she thought about what she’d need for a week of summer. Then, she created pieces that could be mixed, matched, and worn again. “I designed this collection to be the one thing in your closet that always fits—no matter who you are or where you’re going.”
The capsule features pieces that appear laid-back but also help you to look perfectly put-together. The neutral designs that aren’t going to just last one summer—they’ll be staples in your closet year after year.
I appreciate a summer wardrobe that allows me to just throw something on for days at the park with my daughter. Or, allows me to look a little more put together for a shower or a nice dinner on vacation. None of the pieces feel so fancy that I’d feel out of place running errands, yet adding a piece of jewelry or nice wedge heels can easily bring them from day to night.

My top picks from Tuckernuck x Studio McGee
The collection is now available to shop exclusively on the Tuckernuck website. It’s a limited-edition lineup that’s sure to sell out fast. Here are a few of our top picks from the coveted collaboration.
To me, there is no better summer staple than an easy pullover dress you can just throw on and go. This is that dress. The Cassie Dress is a linen tank mini that is a take on Tuckernuck’s pre-existing style of the same name, just done in an all-over chintz pattern that’s Shea’s style! You can easily just wear this with some sandals, or dress it up a bit more with a denim jacket, rattan bag, and gold jewelry.
For cooler summer nights (and even into early fall), the Cream and Mocha Stripe Cotton Brooks Sweater feels like a classic closet staple. The sweater has a boxy fit and is slightly cropped, making it easy to pair with some denim shorts or a maxi skirt. Worn with some Wayfarers, this sweater seems very true to Shea’s style.
The Sienna Dune Breeze Clemente One Piece Bathing Suit comes in two different prints, both made with supportive straps, a low back, and material that’s fully lined. This is notable for being Tuckernuck’s first-ever swimsuit. You can pair either pattern with the matching Linen Margot Wrap Skirt.
As someone who has followed Shea on Instagram, I know a classic sports dress is very much her style. So I was happy to see the White Regan Sport Dress as an option in the capsule. Made with a quick-dry material, the white dress comes with a pleated skirt (finished with two lines of navy), and has connecting compression shorts along with a built-in sports bra. I’m a major fan of a sports dress that can be worn with or without working out in your future, so consider this piece toddler mom-approved.
Nothing screams summer more to me than a gingham style, and the Mocha Cotton Gingham Finn Dress really fits the ticket for this capsule. What could just be your classic mini dress is refined by flutter sleeves and a V-neckline, creating a flattering silhouette for what could otherwise be a tent-like style. Similar to the Cassie Dress, this is the perfect throw-on-and-go style, but perhaps even a bit more breathable for daily wear.
The Terracotta Chintz Cotton Nora Dress is ideal for all your summer events, from baby showers to date nights. The print is inspired by Shea’s favorite wallpaper pattern, chintz, and is made with flutter sleeves and side smocking for a comfortable fit.
Is there anything easier than a matching set? The Tully Top and coordinating Augusta Shorts make for a perfect mix-and-match pair. While the comfortable set looks great paired together, you can also find numerous other pieces to match the top or bottoms with.
