I have them in multiple colors because they are my go-to pair for any type of workout: hot yoga, Pilates, strength… you name it. When I purchased my first pair of “flare leggings” back in 2012, they were called yoga pants. I love that they’re back in style. Butterlift High Waisted Workout Leggings
These buttery-soft leggings were recommended to me as an inexpensive alternative to the lululemon Align leggings—and they did not disappoint. The stretchy material is perfect for all-day wear and the high-waist style holds me in without sacrificing comfort. I’ve actually never worked out in these (purchased them strictly as loungewear!) but I’ve washed them a million times and they’ve held up really well with very little pilling.

I was introduced to Sunzel just a couple of months ago, when my mom gifted me a pair of their flare leggings for Christmas. Since then, I’ve seen them popping up everywhere on my social media feeds. They offer lots of legging options without front seams, which can be a major benefit to some. There are also tons of flare legging styles to choose from, including mini flares and crossover waistbands. So this brand might be a great choice if you’re looking for something a bit more on-trend.
I’ve been wearing these at least once a week since getting them in December. The mini flare style differentiates them from other yoga pants in my closet, and it’s perfect for working out. Sometimes a full flare gets in the way when doing yoga or Pilates, but these do not. The material is so soft and comfortable, and they look the same after wearing and washing them for a couple months as they did when I opened them.

Don’t be deterred by the interesting name of this brand. I first discovered them when I was testing Align lookalikes back in 2021, and to this day, HeyNuts leggings are the closest match I’ve ever tried. I appreciate that they keep it straightforward with two leggings styles to choose from: Workout Pro or Yoga Pro. In addition to those selections, they offer workout tops, sports bras, biker shorts, and more. Personally, I can’t wait to try more product from this brand.
Yoga Pro Buttery Soft Leggings
As mentioned, these leggings are incredibly similar to Aligns. In fact, they are the same fabric makeup: 80 percent nylon and 20 percent Lycra elastane. They certainly live up to their buttery soft name, and are one of the only pairs of leggings I own that I can lounge in without feeling squeezed and uncomfortable. However, I also find them durable enough to wear during low-impact workouts like yoga or Pilates. I’ve owned them for almost four years, and they have little to no pilling. They’re under $30 and come in four inseam lengths and 19 colors—what more could you ask for?! I definitely need to order these in black for everyday wear.
