If you have a picky eater, you know the constant mental math around nutrition. My son has always preferred crunchy, beige foods and avoids basically anything green, which became even more stressful after starting ADHD medication that impacted his appetite. Vitamins themselves were never the issue (he happily took the usual sugar-loaded gummies). But I still found myself lying awake, wondering if we were missing important nutritional gaps.

That’s what led us to Grüns about a year ago. I was honestly skeptical at first because they’re sugar-free and green, which didn’t exactly scream “picky eater approved” to me. But 12 months later, they’ve become one of the easiest parts of our routine—and somehow the vitamin my picky eater actually asks for every morning. There’s no negotiating, no hiding vitamins in applesauce, and no battles before school. He genuinely reminds me if we forget them.

Our secret weapon: A vitamin that does it all (and then some)

I don’t say this lightly, but Grüns feels like the Rolls Royce of multivitamins. Not because it’s flashy or trendy, but because it tackles multiple things at once in a way that actually feels useful for real-life parenting.

Instead of just being a standard multivitamin, it combines nutrients from 30+ organic whole-food sources with fiber and additional functional ingredients into one tiny daily routine. And as someone who spends a concerning amount of time thinking about what my child didn’t eat that day, that matters. On especially chaotic or extra-picky days, knowing that he’s still getting nutrients sourced from actual fruits and vegetables genuinely helps me exhale a little.

I also appreciate how much thought Grüns puts into quality and testing because, as parents, we all want to know exactly what we’re giving our kids. The gummies are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, non-GMO, and free from synthetic sweeteners and dyes. They’re made with a pectin base (a plant-derived fruit fiber) instead of gelatin, which I personally love.

They’re also manufactured in NSF-certified, GMP-compliant, FDA-registered facilities, and every production lot undergoes both in-house and third-party testing for pesticides, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants. As someone who researches basically everything before buying it for my kids, that extra layer of transparency gave me a lot of peace of mind.

The packaging is actually genius

I didn’t expect packaging to matter as much as it does, but the individual packets are probably part of why this routine stuck. The packaging feels similar to fruit snack packets, and each vitamin is shaped like gummy bears, which adds a little excitement and independence to the process. His 2-year-old sister eats them too and literally calls them her “treat,” which I’m absolutely not correcting.

And as a mom, I love that they’re grab-and-go. I can throw a few into my bag for travel, busy mornings, chaotic school drop-offs, or even toss one into his lunchbox. Honestly, the lunchbox thing has become kind of funny because apparently, his friends now ask what “the green gummies” are, too.

The sugar-free factor was huge for me

Aside from my concern that my little one maybe wouldn’t love this part, one of the biggest selling points for me was that they’re sugar-free.

I genuinely didn’t think a sugar-free vitamin existed that my picky eater would willingly eat every day—let alone actively ask for. He can be sensitive to sugar in a variety of ways, so I had always hoped to find an alternative, but realistically assumed anything without sugar would immediately get rejected. Luckily, I was wrong. And as a parent who already feels like sugar sneaks into approximately 400 things throughout the day, removing it from vitamins is a weight off my shoulders.

The unexpected benefit: fiber

Another thing I appreciated? The dietary fiber. When you’re raising a picky eater, digestion becomes part of the conversation, whether you want it to or not. Especially when you’re constantly trying to introduce new foods, manage appetite changes, and make sure your child is actually eating enough throughout the day.

Adding more fiber to his diet didn’t make a dramatic difference overnight, but honestly, I think that’s the point. Things are regular, there are no complaints, and it’s one less thing for me to stress about.

I also like that each gummy is thoughtfully dosed. Every serving delivers 100% of the daily recommended amount for key vitamins and 25% for minerals, which feels like a balanced approach instead of an “everything overloaded” situation.

The taste test: he genuinely likes it

Here’s the part I fully expected to fail. As I mentioned, they’re green and sugar-free. And honestly? When I first opened the box, it gave a “crunchy health food store” vibe that made me nervous. I was convinced my extremely picky child would reject them immediately. But instead, they became the vitamin he asks for every single day.

My child liked them enough right away, but what helped even more was that he’s old enough for us to explain why vitamins and nutrition matter. We talked about fruits and vegetables, growing bodies, and how supplements can sometimes help fill in the gaps while we continue working on expanding foods over time. It became less of a “you have to eat this” situation and more of a family conversation. So now? It really is just part of our routine.

TL;DR: Is it worth the money?

I’ll be upfront: they’re on the pricier side. But at $1.22/day on subscription, you are replacing a multivitamin, a fiber supplement, a fruit-and-veggie blend, and adaptogens, so it definitely makes sense for our family.

More than anything, though, the value comes from one less thing to worry about. As parents, we know we can’t control every meal, every phase, or every picky-eating season. But having one thing in our routine that helps bridge some of those nutritional gaps—and that my picky eater genuinely enjoys taking? That’s been worth it for us. Especially on the days when dinner is somehow still just buttered noodles and crackers.
