After 7 Years of Using Shipt, Here’s Why I’ll Never Go Back
Before I became a mom, grocery shopping was just another errand—something I could squeeze in on the way home from work or tack onto a lazy Sunday morning. But once pregnancy and parent life collided with a full-time job, errands suddenly felt like the equivalent of climbing Everest. I was tired, I was busy, and every store run became another thing I had to do instead of anything I wanted to do.
I’ll never forget the day everything changed. I was 34 weeks pregnant when I woke up feeling off—chalk it up to third-trimester discomfort. I stepped into the shower, and suddenly my water broke. Eighteen hours later, my son, Zach, arrived early, tiny, and needing the kind of care I could never have prepared for: a 25-day NICU stay.
Somewhere between the adrenaline, the fear, and the endless monitors beeping, reality hit me: we were totally unprepared. No preemie clothes, not enough essentials, and certainly no time to run back and forth from the hospital. So from my hospital bed, as a new mom, terrified and exhausted, I signed up for Shipt. These days, with two boys (five and seven), two dogs, sports practices, birthday parties, and my full-time job, every day feels like one long logistics puzzle. When my oldest was four, he woke up two days before Christmas and announced he had changed his mind—Santa only needed to bring him one thing: a red remote-control car. Cue panic. Turns out, “Santa” had no childcare that day. No time. No backup plan. Very little sanity left in the tank.
I opened the Shipt app, found a local store with a red remote control car in stock, and the car was sitting on my doorstep the same day. When he opened his gift Christmas morning, his face lit up in a way I will never forget. It’s one of my favorite Christmas memories ever, and it would never have happened without Shipt.

Moms know that everyday life feels busy, but the holiday season is… a whole other beast in and of itself. I’m team carry-on only, even with two kids, which means packing is basically Tetris at an Olympic level. So when we arrive at our destination, I’ll place a Shipt delivery to wherever we’re staying. I’ve ordered diapers, wipes, snacks, sunscreen, beach toys—you name it. When we went on a Disney cruise recently, I ordered supplies to our hotel the night before we boarded the cruise ship with all the things we didn’t want to pack (or couldn’t, thanks to TSA). Using Shipt in other cities is one of my favorite mom hacks. It saves space, time, and sanity.
Why I’ll never go back to traditional shopping
After seven whole years, I can’t imagine going back to life before Shipt. There’s the obvious convenience—same-day delivery, multiple store options, easy communication with shoppers, and the ability to add things to your order even after it’s started. But it’s more than that. The shoppers with Shipt are consistently kind and communicative, sending pictures, asking about substitutions, and treating the experience like they’re running an errand for family.

Shipt gives me back mental space. It saves time, money, stress, and unnecessary errands.
