As a mom and WFH professional, I’d describe my personal style as comfy, cute, and most often casual, so the explosion of sneaker culture is a welcome trend that I hope sticks around for a while. I love seeing the teens sporting sneaks with their homecoming formalwear (goodbye strappy, blister-making heels!). Having the freedom to wear sneakers with skirts and dresses, as well as wardrobe staples like leggings and sweatshirts, fits my current lifestyle well.

The problem for me is that I’m easily influenced, always looking for the “it” casual sneaker of the moment. I’ve ordered (and returned) Sambas, Nikes, OnClouds, Vejas, and more. Why? For a price point over $100, they just weren’t passing the comfort test for me. Especially when comparing them to the casual sneaker I measure everything against: The Dr. Scholl’s Time Off Sneakers.

Dr. Scholl’s Time Off Sneakers Review: Why I Love Them So Much
Comfort Above All
Admittedly, I have a wide foot—bunions and all—so narrower sneakers just don’t fit me comfortably (looking at you, Nike). Dr. Scholl’s Time Off Sneakers have plenty of width for a roomy fit, plus a cushioned ankle bed, lightweight (and subtle) platform, and arch support. I’ve worn them through the theme parks at Disney World with nary a blister and even recommended them to my 70-year-old mother for her European travel last summer—she came home raving about them, too!
Styling Versatility
Time Offs work well with jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts, shorts… basically everything. I even sported them to a fancier occasion: my cousin’s baby shower. The white version is my favorite, with a little pop of neutral color on the heel.
Dr. Scholl’s also has some new colors and fabrics (like an on-trend silver option), yet still, most of them are neutrals with subtle pops of color, so they really can serve as the perfect finishing touch for almost any outfit. You can wear them with or without socks, thanks to the anti-microbial technology and, again, the padded comfort. They’ve also recently added a higher platform option and a slip-on style to the Time Off collection. You can even grab a pair for a guy in your life or for your little ones!
Durability
As I mentioned, I’ve had the Time Offs for a couple of years now. They’re made of water-resistant faux leather and have handled excessive wear well. I’ve been able to clean them up with a little powdered Tide and a brush to have them looking nearly new again.
Affordability
With so many casual sneakers priced at over $100, Dr. Scholl’s Time Off Sneakers are a more affordable option at $70. Plus, you can usually find them at DSW, where you can use your coupons to make them an even more affordable sneaker option. They’re also available to buy on Amazon, Zappos, Famous Footwear, and more.
They’re Classic, Yet Still On Trend
Again, I’m an elder millennial who usually sees the trends when they arrive on Instagram weeks later after they’ve already made the rounds on TikTok. So learning that my beloved Dr. Scholl’s Time Offs were internet-famous confirmed what I already knew: These sneakers do live up to the hype (and made me feel just a little bit cool for being ahead of the trends for once).
