Love it or not (how could you not?!), spooky season is here. My obsession for Halloween runs deep, and that’s no secret. However, it went to another level when my kids were born. And reading Halloween books together helps us get even more into the spooky spirit.

You’d be hard-pressed to find anything more charming than a young kid’s ability to believe in magic and mystery. For me, that’s absolutely the best thing about celebrating holidays with kids. Though we dive deep into most holidays in our home, Halloween takes the cake. For us, the benefit of this is that my 7-year-old and 4-year-old don’t find anything about Halloween scary. It’s all exciting and fun for them.

I definitely did not intend for them to be enchanted by things like skeletons, ghosts, dark nights, and mystery, but I’ll go ahead and count it as a win. (There are so few of those wins as a parent, right?) And since one of our favorite parts of spooky season is reading Halloween-themed children’s books together, we’ve rounded up more than 30 titles we love and recommend below.
