Before her current role as Branded Content Editor for The Everymom, Carmen served as a Contributing Writer for the site where she developed a deep interest in writing about all aspects of motherhood. With over 20 years of experience in different areas of the education field, Carmen has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Irvine and later received her Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from UCLA. One of the highlights of her career has been serving as the cofounder of UCLA’s Working Mamas Collective—the first-ever working mothers’ support group at UCLA with a mission to empower mothers in the workplace. However, Carmen’s true love has always been writing as evidenced by the short stories she would write in her diary as a little girl. In 2013, she started her blog, ShuGar Love, to document her interests in fashion, traveling, and art. After becoming a mother to her two sweet boys, her blog has evolved into a platform that discusses the balancing act of being a Latinx working mother while raising bilingual, multicultural children. In her role as Branded Content Editor on The Everymom, she is honored to support and grow the brands that partner with The Everymom through the stages of ideation, production, writing and editing, promotion, brand feedback, and metric analysis.
