So hearing about the latest recall of popular Trader Joe’s items meant I immediately checked my freezer drawer to see if I had any of the products. Trader Joe’s frozen food recall
On February 20, 2026, Trader Joe’s announced a recall of its frozen Chicken Fried Rice for potential glass contamination. At the time, there had been no confirmed reports of injury related to the recalled product. However, on March 3, 2026, the company expanded the recall to include other frozen rice products.
According to TJ’s website, “in an abundance of caution, we are recalling certain Trader Joe’s frozen products because of the potential that they may be contaminated with foreign material—specifically, glass.” The company did not share whether there had been any reports of injury, but did share that the following Trader Joe’s frozen food items are affected:
- Chicken Fried Rice: Best By Dates 03/04/2026 – 02/10/2027
- Vegetable Fried Rice: Best By Dates 02/28/2026 – 11/19/2026
- Japanese Style Fried Rice: Best By Dates 02/28/2026 – 11/14/2026
- Chicken Shu Mai: Best By Dates 03/13/2026 – 10/23/2026
What to do if you have the recalled Trader Joe’s products
If you find you have one or more of the recalled products in your freezer, the company urges customers to please discard or return them to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund. And, of course, if you have any health-related concerns, always reach out to your healthcare provider.
