By 2 years old, my oldest was out of the crib and into an adorable toddler bed. Or rather, that was the idea in theory. In reality, she spent much of nap time strolling around her room playing with toys and not sleeping. The bed was darling but barely used. What we needed was to stick her in a crib, so undistracted by her freedom, she could fall asleep.

This time around, with my youngest daughter, I’ve learned my lesson, and I am in no rush to disassemble that lovely, confining piece of furniture anytime soon. And to help ensure my toddler actually stays in it, I’m holding tight to a piece of gear usually reserved for smaller babies: the sleep sack.

While zipped up in a wearable blanket, my daughter remains cozy all night long and—most importantly—doesn’t have the range of motion required to climb out of her crib. It’s a win-win. But sleep sacks for toddlers are not always easy to find. Many manufacturers cap their sizing at 12-18 months, assuming parents opt out of wearable blankets by this age.

But take my word for it: a toddler sleep sack can be a life-changing thing, even if you have to hunt for it. To help get you started on your search, I’ve done some digging for you. It should be noted, however, that a sleep sack is not a cure-all. If you catch your child still attempting to climb while wearing a sleep sack, it could be time to transition to a toddler bed for safety reasons.

Below, I’m sharing nine of my favorite sleep sacks for toddlers—all of which have extended sizing up to 36 months.
