Friday night family movie night is sacred at our house, and Netflix is often the first place I turn. My family has varying tastes in movies, so when we need something easy, age-appropriate, and available right now, Netflix is the streaming service with the best viewing options. But with so many movies to choose from (and new and old titles constantly rotating in and out), finding kids movies on Netflix that everyone can agree on feels surprisingly overwhelming.
I don’t know about your family, but we often spend the first hour of movie night combing through trailers and various streaming platforms. 20 movie trailers later, and we’re no closer to agreeing on something to watch. That’s where this list of the best kids movies on Netflix right now comes in. I took my knowledge of family movies (and long hours of trailer-watching with my son) and dug through the vast library of Netflix kids movies.
Below, you’ll find the best kids movies on Netflix right now, organized by age group and parent-approved for family viewing. There’s also a helpful “watch with caution” section to flag any potential scary or age-inappropriate moments.
From animated favorites for preschoolers to movies older kids and tweens will actually sit through, these picks are entertaining, appropriate, and perfect for a rainy day or family movie night. No trailers required.

What Parents Should Know Before Watching Kids Movies on Netflix
Watching movies with your kids can be fun, educational, and a great way to bond. But even “kids movies” on Netflix aren’t all created equal. Here’s what parents should keep in mind before hitting play:
Check the Age Ratings
Netflix includes a suggested age rating for every title, from G (general audiences) to PG and PG-13. These are a helpful starting point, but every child is different. Consider your child’s sensitivity to scary scenes, intense action, or emotional moments.
Look Out for Mild Peril and Scary Moments
Even family-friendly animations sometimes include suspenseful sequences, villainous characters, or mild peril. Kids’ movies on Netflix, like The Mitchells vs. the Machines have exciting moments that can be intense for younger viewers.
Customizable Viewing Options
Netflix offers features like:
- Kids Profiles: limits content to age-appropriate shows and movies
- Audio & Subtitles: helpful for comprehension or bilingual households
- Playback Controls: adjust volume or enable “skip intro” to manage attention spans
Encourage Discussion
Many kids movies include life lessons, moral choices, or tricky social situations. Talking through these moments can turn a fun movie night into a learning opportunity.
Tip for Parents: Consider previewing new titles first—it takes a few minutes and can save a lot of surprises!

FAQs About Kids Movies on Netflix
What are the best kids movies on Netflix right now?
Titles on Netflix change constantly, so what was available a month ago may be off the platform. Netflix originals are always there, so look to the handy list above for some of our favorites. Movies like KPop Demon Hunters, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, Enola Holmes, and The Mitchells vs. the Machines are consistent favorites for family movie nights.
Are Netflix kids movies safe for all ages?
Age guidelines are just that, guidelines. While Netflix offers many family-friendly movies, some titles labeled “kids” may still include scary scenes, emotional themes, or action scenes. That’s why it’s important to check age ratings and read content descriptions before watching.
How often does Netflix change its kids movie selection?
Netflix regularly rotates licensed movies in and out of its library, meaning some family favorites may only be available for a limited time. Netflix Originals tend to stay available longer, while studio movies may disappear after a few months. Also be mindful that not every movie is available in every country, so depending on where you are selections might change.
What’s the best Netflix movie for family movie night?
The best family movie night picks are ones that appeal to multiple ages. Animated favorites, adventure comedies, and heart-warming stories—like KPop Demon Hunters, The Mitchells vs. the Machines—tend to work well for the whole family.
