When I was growing up, the solution to the chaos was often a family movie night. And that meant finding the best New Year’s Eve movies for kids.
We would curl up on the couch in our coziest pajamas and enjoy a film of our choosing. This way, if anyone “accidentally” dozed off, it wasn’t a big deal. With Christmas officially in the rearview mirror, the movie we chose was often a New Year’s Eve movie—a classic film to celebrate fresh starts and new beginnings.

You’ll be belting out “Seasons of Love” for all of January after watching this touching musical. Rent takes place from Christmas Eve into New Year’s Eve and if you don’t get teary singing 525,600 minutes I’m not sure what will get you. Warning for parents there are more serious themes (drugs, illness, and sex) to this movie and it might kick start some very adult conversations with an older teen.
