When it came time to transition my kids from a nursery to their big kid bedrooms, I let them choose certain decor details like the color of their walls. My oldest chose a bright teal with a beachy Key West vibe. My youngest landed on a lilac purple, though she’d now call “rainbow” her favorite color. But step outside each of their rooms, and you’d find a decidedly neutral palette of mostly whites, grays, and—when I’m feeling really adventurous—sage green through the rest of my home.
It’s not that I don’t like color. I do. And I’ve been tiptoeing into bolder choices. But my own kitchen is paper white. It’s probably a solid choice for resale and longevity, yet sometimes I wish I wasn’t so safe in my style. This is why I loved sourcing this roundup of kitchens that aren’t afraid of a little color; blues, greens, blacks, and even a coral pink fridge round out this list of gorgeous kitchens with barely a white cabinet in sight.

There’s something so chic and modern about a black kitchen. Contrasting wood tones, white tile, and complimentary black lighting fixtures make these spaces super swoon-worthy.
